Our commitments to clients and colleagues

1. Conduct ourselves and our sessions professionally and in an appropriate setting. Work within the limits of our training, always holding the client’s, patient’s or student’s best interests above other considerations.
2. Obey applicable state, federal and local laws and regulations concerning hypnosis and hypnotherapy.
3. Keep matters between member and client or patient confidential. Do not allow third parties access to confidential information except with the client’s written permission, pursuant to an order from a court with jurisdiction, or when prompted by the client and necessary to defend the services provided.
4. Do not have physical contact with a client, patient or student, including contact of a sexual nature. This boundary remains in effect for at least one year after professional services end.
5. Work only within the training and knowledge acquired through appropriate sources.
6. Stay current with developments in the field and maintain applicable continuing education requirements.
7. Before beginning a professional relationship, explain the nature and purpose of services, the anticipated length of service and the estimated cost. Obtain a signed consent form before providing services.
8. Refer anyone whose needs are beyond the member’s qualifications.
9. Act professionally toward clients, other members and colleagues. Misconduct includes lying, cheating, insults, belittling, stealing, harassment and failure to report an incident. Disparaging members or directors is prohibited. A warning may be issued; continued misconduct may lead to suspension or termination.
10. End the professional relationship when the client or patient can no longer benefit. Do not continue services without a good-faith belief that further help will benefit the person.
11. Report any arrest or conviction to the A-CHA board within 24 hours.
